This 4-channel audio piece is a translation of Mina Loy’s play, The Sacred Prostitute (1914), into music. The punctuation marks from Loy’s original manuscript are used as a scoring device, and correspond to an unusual amount of dashes and dots in Loy’s writing. These notes are paired with the sound of four different percussive instruments and played back in a phasing pattern, echoing the aleatoric noise compositions of the early twentieth century.
