The Revolution is Not a Party (2013) performance, location and duration variable
The revolution is not a party. There is no half measure—NO scratching on the surface of the rubbish heap of tradition, will bring about Reform, the only method is Absolute Demolition. That is why real revolutions have the atmosphere of fêtes. Even if the waste of a failed revolution is thrown into the dumpsters, it still cannot be said that the revolution has been forgotten. After the revolution who's going to pick up the garbage on Monday morning? The revolution is not a party.
The Revolution is Not a Party is a roaming series of performances over the course of one evening, with a large number of people exclaiming revolutionary statements through megaphones while wandering the streets. As they roam the streets, their voices echo and overlap, creating an incidental auditory composition of of protest slogans, song lyrics, and manifestos from the past to the present. A revolution in potential.
